In 1999, Grandville Avenue Arts & Humanities was founded with a mission to engage and cultivate curiosity, creativity, and trusting relationships with our neighbors in the Roosevelt Park and Black Hills neighborhoods. We opened the Cook Arts Center and Cook Library Center shortly thereafter as welcoming spaces of care and belonging. Today, the facilities are two of the brightest spots on the Southwest side, providing year-round opportunities for those who live in the neighborhood to develop their unique gifts, determine the course of their lives, and share their leadership with the broader community.

As we reflect on the past 25 years, we also eagerly look ahead to the the impact GAAH will have this year and for many years to come. We invite you to join us in being part of our next 25 years with your gift today. Your contribution supports...

  • Creativity: We’re planning more than 100 different classes in our studios at the Cook Arts Center, like ballet, sewing, stop-motion-animation, piano, potter’s wheel, and more!
  • Curiosity: Your support allows us to buy books, hire tutors, and go on field trips around the city, so students can be supported in their learning and curiosity.
  • Inclusion and Justice: From celebrating our culture to advocating for systems change work at schools and across the city, we continue working with families to fight systems of oppression that have created the inequities our community experiences.
